The standard for restoration work in Europe, this is a tremendously versatile and durable paint. Solvent-free, safe and easy to use, it has a low environmental impact. Not only can it be used indoors or out, it also adheres to virtually any clean, dry porous surface. It contains no plastics or chemical driers and won’t crack, peel or trap moisture behind a surface film. Easy to maintain with an application of Allb?ck boiled linseed oil, linseed oil wax, or an additional coat to refresh the color if faded over time – no scraping, sanding or primer required. For indoor use, a single coat on raw wood produces a wash of color that permits the grain to show through; additional coats deepen the color and increase opacity. A topcoat of linseed oil wax provides additional moisture resistance and increased sheen; the tinted waxes can be used to create an aged effect. For outdoor use, two to three coats of paint are recommended; Allb?ck linseed oil wax is not suitable for outdoor situations. In high-humidity situations where resistance to mildew is needed, mix in 20% zinc white additive (available separately) to light colors and 10% to dark colors. For most efficient paint coverage, apply a seal coat of Allb?ck boiled linseed oil to raw wood to help limit absorption. The boiled oil can also serve as a topcoat for additional moisture resistance or increased sheen. The paint is best applied using a natural-bristle brush and cleans up easily with Allb?ck linseed oil soap. It dries in about 24 hours at room temperature and 50% relative humidity. Drying time is prolonged significantly by high humidity or low temperatures (by a factor of 2 or 3, based on our testing), an important consideration for outdoor projects. Available in 1 litre (34 fl oz) and 200ml (6.8 fl oz) containers. It has a thick consistency to provide a high coverage (at least 15m2/161 sq.ft. per litre) yet flows smoothly for excellent workability. The 200ml size covers approximately 3m2 (32 sq.ft.). Highly recommended. Not available for shipment to California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Maine, Minnesota, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont or Washington.
